Registrations for the first Italian GT3 and Hypercar Championship on Le Mans Ultimate (LMU) have officially closed. After weeks of anticipation, the green light is now close: from 19 to 21 September, on the iconic Sebring circuit, drivers will tackle six two-hour pre-qualifying sessions, two per day, with starts scheduled at 19:00 and 21:00.
Significant numbers
The success of the initiative is confirmed by the numbers: 31 entries in the Hypercar class and 32 in the LMGT3 class, for a total of 63 drivers ready to compete.
Looking at the Hypercar field, a clear trend emerges, with the Ferrari 499P chosen by as many as 22 drivers, followed by the Porsche 963 with 4 entries, the Toyota GR010-Hybrid and Cadillac V-Series.R with two drivers each, and finally the Peugeot 9X8 and the Aston Martin Valkyrie, both represented by a single competitor.
Variety increases even further in the LMGT3 class, where the fight for manufacturer supremacy sees the Aston Martin Vantage AMR LMGT3 Evo (12 drivers) and the BMW M4 LMGT3 / Evo (9 drivers) as the main protagonists. Slightly further back but still well represented are the Lexus RC F LMGT3 (4 drivers) and the Lamborghini Huracán LMGT3 Evo 2 (2 drivers), while single entries include the Ferrari 296 LMGT3, the Ford Mustang LMGT3, the Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 and the Porsche 911 LMGT3 R (992).
Drivers to watch
Among the many names on the entry list, a few profiles stand out as ones to keep an eye on:
-
In Hypercar, keep an eye on Marco Di Buono and Elias Poli, both ready to put on a show.
-
In LMGT3, the spotlight is on Edoardo Ruggiero, ACI eSport GT3 2025 vice-champion on ACC, and Marcello Bonaccorsi, ACI eSport GT2 2024 champion.
They are joined by a group of drivers who earned direct access to the championship thanks to their results in the LMP2 Championship, including Dario Iemmulo, Leonardo Passoni, Andrea Zanelotti and Simone Bisoglio in Hypercar, and Leonardo Porco and Gianluca Scalvini in LMGT3.
A special mention goes to the participation of Silvio Tuveri, who with his Total Paint is not only an official partner of the championship, but has also decided to get directly involved by taking part in the pre-qualifying sessions and aiming to qualify for the final phase. A gesture that showcases the passion and the desire to experience the Italian Championship on LMU as a true protagonist.
Teams on the grid
The level of competition is further raised by the presence of numerous high-profile teams from the Italian and international scene, such as:
Veloce, Tatum ResTech, Gladius Competitions, Absolute Motorsport, Cube Controls Reparto Corse, Sim Freem eSport.
Next steps
At the end of the pre-qualifying phase, the organizers will publish the results and proceed with the official admission of the drivers:
-
Hypercar: the top 18 classified drivers (minus the 4 spots reserved for drivers coming from the LMP2 Championship)
-
LMGT3: the top 16 classified drivers (minus the 2 spots reserved for drivers coming from the LMP2 Championship)
The wait is over: now it is time for the track to speak, where speed, consistency and strategy will decide who earns a place on the official grid of the first Italian Championship on LMU.
Finally, we remind you that throughout the entire pre-qualifying phase, the SPQRacing exclusive live timing will be available directly on this portal.
